E: CONTENT

Square

⬜ A square has:

  • Four equal sides.
  • Four right angles.
  • Opposite sides parallel.

Rectangle

▭ A rectangle has:

  • Four sides.
  • Opposite sides equal.
  • Four right angles.
  • Opposite sides parallel.

Rhombus

◇ A rhombus has:

  • Four equal sides.
  • Opposite sides parallel.
  • Opposite angles equal.

Comparing the Shapes

A square and rectangle both have four right angles.
A square and rhombus both have four equal sides.

Diagonals

A diagonal is a straight line joining opposite corners of a shape.
Example:
⬜ with a line from one corner to the opposite corner.

Lines of Symmetry

A line of symmetry divides a shape into two equal matching parts.
A square has several lines of symmetry.
