E: CONTENT

Reading and Writing Large Numbers

Whole numbers can be written in figures or words.
Examples:

• 5,000 = Five thousand
• 25,000 = Twenty-five thousand
• 100,000 = One hundred thousand
• 1,000,000 = One million

Counting in Thousands

We can count:
1,000, 2,000, 3,000, 4,000, 5,000…

Counting in Millions

1,000,000 = One million
2,000,000 = Two million
3,000,000 = Three million

Comparing Numbers

We use:

• > means greater than.
• < means less than.
• = means equal to.

Examples:
45,000 > 20,000
30,000 < 60,000
50,000 = 50,000

Ascending and Descending Order

Ascending order means arranging from the smallest to the biggest.
Example:
3,000, 5,000, 8,000, 10,000
Descending order means arranging from the biggest to the smallest.
Example:
10,000, 8,000, 5,000, 3,000
