Why Government Is Necessary

Government is necessary because people need leadership, laws and public services to live together peacefully.

Importance of Government

Government performs many important roles.

Government makes and enforces laws to maintain peace.

2. Protection of Lives and Property

Security agencies help protect citizens and property.

3. Provision of Public Services

Government provides:

  • Schools.
  • Hospitals.
  • Roads.
  • Water.
  • Electricity.

4. Protection of Rights

Government makes laws that protect citizens’ rights.

5. National Defence

Government protects the country from external threats.

6. Promotion of Development

Government provides infrastructure and programmes that support economic and social development.

Society Without Government

Without government, there may be:

  1. Disorder.
  2. Crime.
  3. Conflict.
  4. Poor public services.
  5. Insecurity.
