Meaning of a Nation

A nation is a large group of people living within a particular territory under one government and sharing a national identity. Nigeria is a nation. 🇳🇬 Nigerians may have different languages and cultures, but they belong to one country.

Features of a Nation

A nation usually has:

  1. A defined territory.
  2. Citizens.
  3. A government.
  4. Laws.
  5. National symbols.
  6. A common national identity.

Meaning of National Consciousness

National consciousness means being aware that we belong to one nation and caring about its peace, unity and progress.

Ways of Showing National Consciousness

We can show national consciousness by:

  • respecting national symbols.
  • obeying laws.
  • protecting public property.
  • respecting other Nigerians.
  • promoting peace.
  • supporting the progress of the country.

Importance of National Unity

Unity helps Nigeria to:

  • remain peaceful.
  • develop faster.
  • solve problems together.
  • build strong relationships among citizens.
