E: CONTENT

Revision of Family

A family is a group of people who are related to one another. The two common types of family are:

  1. Nuclear family.
  2. Extended family.

A nuclear family mainly consists of:

  • Father.
  • Mother.
  • Children.

An extended family may include:

  • Grandparents.
  • Uncles.
  • Aunts.
  • Cousins.
  • Nephews.
  • Nieces.

Revision of Family Responsibilities

Parents may:

  • Provide food.
  • Provide shelter.
  • Protect the family.
  • Care for children.
  • Provide education.

Children should:

  • Obey their parents.
  • Respect elders.
  • Study hard.
  • Help with simple household duties.

Revision of Marriage

Marriage is a socially and legally recognised union between two adults who agree to live together as partners and build a family. Forms of marriage discussed include:

  1. Traditional or customary marriage.
  2. Christian marriage.
  3. Islamic marriage.
  4. Civil or court marriage.

Revision of Medicines

A medicine is a substance used to prevent, treat or manage illness. Two broad groups discussed are:

  1. Modern medicines.
  2. Traditional medicines.

💊 Tablets and syrups are examples of forms of modern medicine. 🌿 Leaves, roots and bark may be used in some traditional remedies.

Medicine Safety

Children should:

  1. Never take medicines without responsible adult guidance.
  2. Follow instructions given by qualified health workers.
  3. Never drink unknown mixtures.
  4. Keep medicines away from younger children.
