Meaning of Marriage

Marriage is a socially and legally recognised union between two adults who agree to live together as partners and build a family. A married couple should love, respect and support one another.

Reasons Why Adults Marry

Adults may marry for:

  1. Companionship.
  2. Love and support.
  3. Formation of a family.
  4. Raising children.
  5. Cooperation and mutual assistance.

Marriage and Family

Marriage may lead to the formation of a new family. 👨 + 👩 → 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 The husband, wife and their children may form a nuclear family.

Importance of Marriage

Marriage:

  1. Brings two adults together as partners.
  2. Helps in building families.
  3. Encourages cooperation.
  4. Provides a home for raising children.
  5. Helps strengthen relationships between families.

Responsibilities in Marriage

Married partners should:

  • Respect one another.
