Meaning of Roles and Responsibilities

A role or responsibility is a duty that a person is expected to perform. Every family member has responsibilities.

Roles of Parents

Parents may:

1. Provide food.
2. Provide shelter.
3. Provide clothing.
4. Pay for children’s education.
5. Protect the family.
6. Teach children good behaviour.
7. Care for sick family members.

Roles of Children

Children can:

1. Obey their parents.
2. Help with simple household work.
3. Keep their rooms clean.
4. Study hard.
5. Respect elders.
6. Care for younger siblings.

🧹 A child may help to sweep the house. 📚 A child should study and complete schoolwork.

Roles of Grandparents and Other Relatives

Grandparents, uncles and aunts may:

1. Give advice.
2. Care for children.
3. Assist the family when necessary.
4. Teach family traditions.
5. Support family members.

Importance of Cooperation

When family members work together:

• Work becomes easier.
• There is peace.
• Family members become happier.
• Problems can be solved more easily.
