Meaning of Road Signs
Road signs are signs placed on or near roads to give instructions, warnings and information to road users.
Importance of Road Signs
Road signs:
- give directions;
- warn road users;
- control traffic;
- prevent accidents;
- promote road safety.
Examples of Road Signs
Some common road signs show:
- pedestrian crossing;
- school ahead;
- no parking;
- speed limit;
- road junction;
- stop.
Meaning of Traffic Lights
Traffic lights are lights used to control the movement of vehicles and pedestrians. They have three main colours: 🔴 Red 🟡 Amber/Yellow 🟢 Green
Meaning of Red
🔴 Red means STOP.
Meaning of Amber
🟡 Amber means WAIT or GET READY.
Meaning of Green
🟢 Green means GO when it is safe.
Safe Behaviour
Pedestrians should:
- obey traffic lights;
- use pedestrian crossings where available;
- avoid running suddenly into the road;
- listen to responsible adults and traffic officers.
