Meaning of Unbalanced Diet

An unbalanced diet is a meal that does not contain all the needed food nutrients in the right amounts. For example, eating only rice every day without vegetables, protein or fruits is not a balanced diet.

Causes of an Unbalanced Diet

An unbalanced diet may result from:

  1. Eating only one type of food.
  2. Eating too much of one class of food.
  3. Not eating enough fruits and vegetables.
  4. Not eating enough protein foods.

Effects of an Unbalanced Diet

It may cause:

  • Weakness.
  • Poor growth.
  • Sickness.
  • Lack of energy.
  • Poor body development.

Prevention

We can prevent an unbalanced diet by:

  1. Eating different types of food.
  2. Including fruits and vegetables.
  3. Eating protein foods.
  4. Drinking enough clean water.
