Meaning of a Verb

A verb is an action word.

Examples:

• walk
• play
• jump
• wash
• cook
• talk

Present Tense

The present tense tells us about an action happening now or often.

Examples:

🏃 Tunde runs every morning.

⚽ Ada plays with a ball.

🧼 Musa washes his hands.

Past Tense

The past tense tells us about an action that has already happened.

Examples:

• walk → walked
• play → played
• jump → jumped
• wash → washed
• cook → cooked
• talk → talked

Present and Past

• I walk to school. → I walked to school.
• We play football. → We played football.
• They jump high. → They jumped high.
• Ada washes her hands. → Ada washed her hands.

Simple Reading Passage

After School

Tunde plays football after school. Yesterday, he played with Musa. They kicked the ball and jumped happily. After the game, Tunde walked home.

Questions

1. What does Tunde do after school?
