Meaning of an Earthworm

An earthworm is a small, long and soft-bodied animal that lives in the soil. 🪱 Earthworms are often found in moist soil.

Appearance of an Earthworm

An earthworm:

  • has a long body
  • has no legs
  • has a soft body
  • moves by stretching and contracting its body

Where Earthworms Live

Earthworms live mainly in:

  • moist soil
  • gardens
  • farms
  • places with decaying leaves

Why Earthworms Are Farmers’ Friends

Earthworms are called farmers’ friends because they help the soil. They:

  1. Loosen the soil.
  2. Allow air into the soil.
  3. Help water enter the soil.
  4. Mix dead plant materials with soil.

Care of Earthworms

Earthworms should not be killed carelessly because they are useful to the soil.
