Meaning of Transportation

Transportation is the movement of people and goods from one place to another.

Water Transportation

Water transportation is the movement of people and goods through water. Examples include: 🚤 Canoes. ⛴️ Ferries. 🚢 Ships. 🛥️ Boats.

Importance of Water Transportation

It:

  1. Carries people.
  2. Carries heavy goods.
  3. Promotes trade.
  4. Connects riverine communities.
  5. Supports fishing and tourism.

Air Transportation

Air transportation is the movement of people and goods through the air. Examples include: ✈️ Aeroplanes. 🚁 Helicopters.

Importance of Air Transportation

It:

  1. Is very fast.
  2. Connects distant places.
  3. Carries passengers.
  4. Carries important and urgent goods.
  5. Supports international trade.

Problems of Water Transportation

  1. Accidents.
  2. Poor waterways.
  3. Overloading.
  4. Bad weather.
  5. Inadequate safety equipment.

Problems of Air Transportation

  1. High cost.
  2. Bad weather.
  3. Flight delays.
  4. Limited airports.
  5. High maintenance cost.
