Meaning of Employment

Employment means having lawful work or a job through which a person earns income. Examples include: 👩‍🏫 Teaching. 👨‍⚕️ Medicine. 👩‍🌾 Farming. 👨‍🔧 Mechanical work. 👩‍💻 Computer services.

Meaning of Unemployment

Unemployment is the condition in which a person who is able and willing to work cannot find a job.

Meaning of Underemployment

Underemployment occurs when a person has work but does not have enough work or is working far below his or her skills and capacity.

Causes of Unemployment

They include:

  1. Lack of skills.
  2. Lack of job opportunities.
  3. Poor education.
  4. Economic difficulties.
  5. Rapid population growth.
  6. Lack of industries.
  7. Poor infrastructure.

Effects of Unemployment

Unemployment may cause:

  1. Poverty.
  2. Dependence on others.
  3. Hunger.
  4. Crime.
  5. Frustration.
  6. Slow national development.

Ways of Reducing Unemployment

Government and citizens can promote:
