E: CONTENT

Revision of Synonyms and Antonyms

Synonyms are words with the same or nearly the same meaning.
Examples:

  • big — large
  • happy — glad
  • begin — start

Antonyms are words with opposite meanings.
Examples:

  • hot — cold
  • strong — weak
  • early — late

Revision of Idioms

An idiom is an expression with a special meaning.
Examples:

  • A piece of cake — very easy.
  • Under the weather — feeling unwell.
  • Once in a blue moon — very rarely.

Revision of Reported Speech

Direct: Ada said, “I am happy.”
Reported: Ada said that she was happy.
Direct: John said, “I will come.”
Reported: John said that he would come.

Reading Passage

During the holiday, Chika visited her grandmother in the village. She helped to fetch water, sweep the compound and feed the chickens. She also listened to interesting stories in the evening.
Questions:

  1. Who did Chika visit?
  2. Mention two things she did.
  3. What did she listen to in the evening?

Revision of Letter Writing

A formal letter is written to an official person.
An informal letter is written to friends or relatives.
