Meaning of Safety

Safety means being protected from danger, injury or harm. A safe person follows rules that help prevent accidents.

Meaning of Accident

An accident is an unexpected event that may cause injury, damage or loss. Examples include:

  • Falling.
  • Burns.
  • Cuts.
  • Electric shock.
  • Road accidents.
  • Poisoning.

Causes of Accidents

Accidents may be caused by:

  • Running on slippery floors.
  • Playing with sharp objects.
  • Careless use of electrical appliances.
  • Leaving objects on pathways.
  • Playing with fire.
  • Crossing roads carelessly.
  • Touching harmful chemicals.

Accidents at Home

Examples include:

  • Burns from hot water.
  • Cuts from knives.
  • Falling on wet floors.

Accidents at School
