Electrical Appliances

Common electrical appliances include:

Uses of Electricity

Electricity is used for:

  1. Lighting.
  2. Cooking.
  3. Cooling.
  4. Heating.

  6. Operating machines.

  8. Refrigeration.

Dangers of Electricity

Electricity can cause:

  • Electric shock.
  • Burns.
  • Fire.
  • Injury.

Causes of Electrical Accidents

Electrical accidents may result from:

  • Touching exposed wires.
  • Using damaged appliances.
  • Touching switches with wet hands.
  • Overloading sockets.

Electrical Safety Rules

⚠️ We should:

  1. Never touch exposed wires.
  2. Never touch electrical appliances with wet hands.
  3. Keep electrical appliances away from water.
  4. Do not put fingers or objects into sockets.
  5. Report damaged wires to an adult.
  6. Switch off appliances when not in use.
  7. Avoid overloading sockets.
  8. Follow adult instructions.

Conservation of Electricity

To conserve electricity:

  • Switch off lights when not needed.
  • Switch off fans when leaving a room.
  • Unplug appliances that are not in use where appropriate.
  • Use electricity responsibly.
