Consonant Sounds

Listen to these sounds:

/t/ as in:

  • ten
  • table
  • top
  • time

/d/ as in:

  • dog
  • door
  • day
  • dance

The teacher pronounces the words clearly while pupils repeat.

Sentence Construction

A sentence is a group of words that gives complete meaning.

Correct:

  • The boy is running.
  • Ada reads her book.

Incorrect:

  • boy the running is
  • book Ada her reads

Arranging Words

Example:

school / goes / Musa / to

Correct sentence:

Musa goes to school.

Substitution Table

We clean the classroom

Examples:

  • Ada reads a book.
  • Musa carries a bag.
  • We clean the classroom.

Simple Reading Passage

Tunde wakes up early every morning. He brushes his teeth and takes his bath. He eats breakfast before going to school. He always arrives at school on time.

Questions:

  1. When does Tunde wake up?
  2. What does he do after waking up?
  3. What does he eat before school?
  4. Does he arrive late?
