The pupils have learnt different types of buildings and can identify residential, commercial and public buildings.

By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

E: CONTENT

Public Buildings

A public building is a building provided for use by many people in the community.

Schools

Schools are places where people learn. Examples:

  • nursery school
  • primary school
  • secondary school

Hospitals and Health Centres

They are places where sick or injured people receive treatment. 🏥 Examples:

  • hospital
  • clinic
  • health centre

Markets

Markets are places where people buy and sell goods.

Offices

Offices are places where people carry out official or business work.

Police Stations

Police stations are places where police officers work to help maintain law and order.

Fire Stations

Fire stations are places where firefighters and firefighting equipment are kept.

Places of Worship

Examples include:

  • churches
  • mosques
  • other recognised places where people gather for worship

Proper Behaviour in Public Buildings

We should:

  1. Obey rules.
  2. Keep the environment clean.
  3. Avoid damaging property.
  4. Speak politely.
  5. Follow safety instructions.
