Meaning of Extensive Reading
Extensive reading means reading different books for knowledge and enjoyment.
Pupils can read:
- storybooks
- picture books
- simple magazines
- short passages
Reading often helps us to learn new words and improve our English.
Independent Reading
Independent reading means reading by yourself with little or no help.
A pupil should:
- Read slowly and carefully.
- Look at pictures for clues.
- Try to understand new words.
- Think about what is happening in the story.
- Ask for help when a word is too difficult.
Short Story: The Lost Ball
Kunle and Musa were playing football after school. Musa kicked the ball into a bush. They looked everywhere but could not find it. A little boy passing by saw the ball under a tree and showed it to them. Kunle and Musa thanked him and continued playing.
