E: CONTENT

Meaning of National Anthem

A national anthem is an official song of a country. Nigeria has a National Anthem. It reminds citizens of:

  • unity;
  • service;
  • courage;
  • love for the country.

Proper Behaviour During the National Anthem

When the National Anthem is being performed, people should:

  1. Stand upright.
  2. Remain quiet.
  3. Sing respectfully where appropriate.
  4. Avoid playing or talking.

Meaning of National Pledge

The National Pledge is a promise citizens make to be faithful, loyal and honest to Nigeria.

Importance of the National Pledge

The National Pledge teaches citizens to:

  • be loyal;
  • be honest;
  • serve Nigeria;
  • defend the country;
  • promote unity.

National Currency

National currency is the official money used in a country. Nigeria’s currency is the naira. The smaller unit is called kobo. 💴 Naira notes and coins are used to buy and sell goods and services.

Respect for National Currency

We should:

  • keep money clean;
  • avoid tearing notes;
  • avoid writing on money;
  • avoid destroying coins and notes.
