Classification of Carbohydrate Foods

Some carbohydrate crops can be grouped into:

1. Grain crops.
2. Tuber crops.

Grain Crops

Grain crops produce small, hard seeds that we eat. Examples include: 🌽 Maize 🍚 Rice 🌾 Millet 🌾 Guinea corn

Tuber Crops

Tuber crops produce enlarged underground parts that store food. Examples include: 🍠 Yam 🌱 Cassava 🥔 Potato 🍠 Cocoyam

Difference Between Grains and Tubers

Grains are mainly seeds harvested from crops. Tubers are enlarged parts that usually grow under the soil. Both groups provide the body with energy.
