Meaning of Fats and Oils

Fats and oils are food nutrients that provide the body with energy. Oil is usually liquid at normal room temperature. Examples include: 🫗 Palm oil 🫗 Groundnut oil 🥥 Coconut oil Some fats may be more solid. Examples include: 🧈 Butter 🧈 Margarine

Foods That Provide Oil

Examples are: 🥜 Groundnuts 🥥 Coconut 🌴 Oil-palm fruits 🌱 Soya beans

Importance of Fats and Oils

Fats and oils:

  1. Give the body energy.
  2. Help keep the body warm.
  3. Are used in preparing food.
  4. Help the body use some vitamins.

We should eat fatty foods in reasonable amounts.
