E: CONTENT

Traditional Foods

Traditional foods are foods commonly prepared and eaten by people in a particular community or cultural group.

Examples of Nigerian Foods

Examples include:

  • 🍚 rice,
  • beans,
  • yam,
  • pounded yam,
  • eba,
  • amala,
  • tuwo,
  • moi-moi,
  • akara,
  • soups.

Foods in Different Communities

Different cultural groups may prepare food in different ways. Examples:

  • Amala is common among many Yoruba people.
  • Tuwo is common in many northern communities.
  • Pounded yam is eaten in many parts of Nigeria.
  • Eba and different soups are eaten across many communities.

Similarities in Our Foods

Many Nigerian groups eat:

  • rice,
  • beans,
  • yam,
  • vegetables,
  • fish,
  • meat.

Respecting Food Choices

We should not laugh at another person’s traditional food. All clean and healthy foods should be respected.
