Meaning of Culture

Culture is the way of life of a group of people. It includes the things people do, wear, eat and believe.

Examples of Culture

Culture includes:

  • language,
  • food,
  • dressing,
  • music,
  • dance,
  • festivals,
  • greetings,
  • beliefs.

Nigerian Cultural Examples

Nigeria has many cultural groups. Examples include:

  • Yoruba,
  • Igbo,
  • Hausa,
  • Efik,
  • Tiv,
  • Edo,
  • Ijaw.

Different groups may have different:

  • languages,
  • foods,
  • clothes,
  • dances.

Respecting Other Cultures

We should:

  1. Respect other people’s languages.
  2. Respect their dressing.
  3. Avoid mocking their food or customs.
  4. Live peacefully with everyone.
