Meaning of an Apostrophe
An apostrophe is this sign:
’
It can be used to show that something belongs to someone.
Showing Ownership
When something belongs to one person, we can add ’s to the person’s name or noun.
Examples:
👧 Ada has a book.
It is Ada’s book.
👦 Tunde has a bag.
It is Tunde’s bag.

Simple Sentences
🎒 This is Tunde’s bag.

Changing Sentences to Possessive Form
The bag belongs to Musa.
→ It is Musa’s bag.
The pencil belongs to Bola.
→ It is Bola’s pencil.
The shoe belongs to the boy.
→ It is the boy’s shoe.
