E: CONTENT

Meaning of Honesty

Honesty means doing what is right and refusing to cheat, steal or lie. An honest person can be trusted.

Meaning of Truthfulness

Truthfulness means saying what is true. A truthful child does not tell lies.

Examples of Honest Behaviour

An honest child:

  1. Tells the truth.
  2. Returns things that belong to others.
  3. Does not steal.
  4. Does not cheat.
  5. Keeps promises.
  6. Admits when he or she has done something wrong.

Example

Ada finds a pencil on the floor. ✏️ Instead of keeping it, she gives it to the teacher. Ada is honest.

Importance of Honesty

Honesty:

  • makes people trust us;
  • brings peace;
  • helps us make good friends;
  • makes parents and teachers happy;
  • helps build good character.

Effects of Dishonesty

Dishonesty may lead to:

  • punishment;
  • loss of trust;
  • quarrels;
  • shame;
  • bad friendship.
