How Insects Are Useful

Some insects are useful to people and farmers.

Pollination

Pollination happens when pollen is moved from one flower to another. Bees 🐝 and butterflies 🦋 can help with pollination as they move from flower to flower. Pollination helps plants to produce fruits and seeds.

Production of Honey

Bees produce honey. Honey can be eaten and used for other purposes.

Control of Harmful Insects

Some insects, such as the praying mantis, feed on other small insects. This can help farmers reduce harmful insects.

Importance to Crops

Useful insects help:

  1. Plants to produce seeds.
