The pupils know that water is taken into the body and that clean water is important for good health.

By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

  2. Mention sources of water.
  3. Identify rain, rivers and wells as sources of water.
  4. Identify boreholes and taps as sources of water.
  5. State the importance of using safe drinking water.

E: CONTENT

Meaning of Water

Water is a liquid that people, animals and plants need to live. 💧 Water is very important in our daily lives.

Sources of Water

A source of water is where water comes from. Examples include:

1. Rain

🌧️ Rain falls from the clouds.

2. Rivers

A river is flowing water found in nature.

3. Streams

A stream is a small flowing body of water.

4. Wells

A well is a deep hole made in the ground to get water.

5. Boreholes

A borehole brings underground water to the surface.

6. Taps

🚰 Water may come into homes and schools through taps.

Safe Drinking Water

Not all water is safe to drink directly. Drinking water should be clean and made safe before use. Children should drink water provided by responsible adults.
